Beware the square. Cheer the sphere.
The sphere is the perfect shape for the ice in your drink. Compared to ice cubes, an ice sphere (ice ball), subjects 24% less surface area to the drink. This means less drink dilution for the same amount of chill power. Meltdown Is The Perfect Solution to Dilution Pollution.

Meltdown is the ultimate ice ball press.
Made from 99.8% solid copper, Meltdown makes exquisite ice balls. Copper is 1.7 times more conductive than aluminum and three times heavier. So, when you unleash Meltdown, the extreme conductivity and weight of the solid copper press boldly melts and molds the ice.

How Meltdown works
To use Meltdown, simply slide the HoverCover off, place the ice cylinder and replace the cover. Due to the weight and conduction, Meltdown begins the ice ball making process immediately with zero effort needed by you. In roughly a minute (assuming the device is room temperature), you’ll have a beautiful spherical ice ball that’s ready to be deployed into your drink.
Meltdown works best when it is at room temperature or warmer. If making multiple ice balls, either let Meltdown warm up between each pressing or run it under warm water until it is no longer cold.

Pinless design makes for flawless, long-lasting performance
Most ice ball presses use pins that emanate from the base onto which the top of the press fits and down which it travels. This is a simple way to make an ice ball press, but it has two potential flaws.
First, in many cases, you’ll get some “chattering” as the top of the press descends. This is because the ice does not melt uniformly, and if the pins are not perfectly aligned, especially over time, the top of the press catches on the pins. Second, If you ever drop your ice ball press, these pins are likely to get bent or be damaged as they are the weak point of the design.
Meltdown features a pinless design in which the cover rides in grooves built into the Meltdown base. This design is far easier to align and is not prone to chattering or accidental damage.

A cold, hard surprise made right before your eyes
As Meltdown makes an ice ball, meltwater is channeled down the sides of the device along four TrickleDown Cascade grooves designed into the sidewall. This allows you and your guests to watch the cascading meltwater and the ice ball making process in action and, at the end, see the ice ball revealed for use in your drink of choice.
The runoff water is captured in Meltdown’s CatchAll Base from which you can pour it away before making another ice ball. Because copper holds the cold, you may want to either let Meltdown warm some on its own or run it under warm water prior to making additional ice balls. Of course, you can pre-make and freeze ice balls, too.
