Frequently asked questions
What size spheres does the Meltdown (Mogul/CopperTopper/Chubby) make?
Makes 2.5 inch in Diameter Ice Spheres
How often do I need to clean my Meltdown Ice Ball Press?
It is a matter of preference. Copper will tarnish over time when exposed to oxygen and humid air. Many owners of the Meltdown prefer the authentic tarnished look with age. When you want to restore the shine to new, simply and easily follow the Meltdown cleaning instructions.
How do I get more cleaning supplies for my Meltdown Ice Ball Press?
The cleanser & polish cleaner and non-scratch sponges are sold at most grocery and home improvement stores as well as on-line.
How do I make consecutive ice balls on the Meltdown Ice Ball Press?
The Meltdown works best when it is at room temperature. When making consecutive ice balls, simply run the HoverCover top section under warm water for 15-20 seconds or until warm. You are now ready to make your next Meltdown ice ball.
Can I make Meltdown Ice Balls and have ready ahead of an event?
Yes, you can pre-make and freeze ice balls from your Meltdown Ice Ball Press to have ready when needed.
My Meltdown “locks up” when I make an ice ball. How do I avoid this?
This “locking up” occurs when you leave the Meltdown cover in place after the ice ball has been formed. What is happening is the copper (or aluminum) is melting the cylinder of ice to form the ice ball and getting cold enough to freeze residual water which, in turn, is freezing the Meltdown cover and base together. To avoid this, simply remove the cover as soon as it completes its descent and reaches the drain base.
